Our policies are based in insufficient regard for the conditions under which future human populations will live as climate change intensifies. Spare a thought for our feather friends as they cope with the existing variability in the Australian climate. Then give a few more thoughts as to how they’ll cope with increases in the rate of human-induced change, either directly through water given to agriculture or indirectly as heating and drying grips the continent.
