Is the  Pentecostal PM planning on being ‘raptured up’ before the planet is completely uninhabitable? It seems the other countries are onto him, it’s a pity more Australians aren’t. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/politics/federal/a-recipe-for-disaster-readers-respond-to-morrison-s-speech-on-climate-at-leaders-summit-20210429-p57ncx.html …

There’re so many things to be said about a free-market government building a gas-fired power station. Why let the market proceed with zero-input energy costs in the renewables industry when there’s gas to be mined and bought for electricity generation? The trains are inefficient, lets have a government-run transport system? How about a government-run retail bank? Buying back Qantas? Is there a coherent policy view abroad in these Liberals? Or is just resource-donor mates driving everything now?https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-29/government-gas-fired-power-plant-nsw/100102888

Morrison might have been better off if he had remained on mute for the whole climate summit. He would have been saved the embarrassment and Australia would have been saved the shame.https://pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/five-things-we-learned-from-the-biden-climate-summit

Indeed it is unusual to see words such as ‘optimism’ and ‘climate change’ together, particularly in Australia these last 7 years. Can these researchers also add the word ‘realistic’ to their argument?https://theconversation.com/more-reasons-for-optimism-on-climate-change-than-weve-seen-for-decades-2-climate-experts-explain-159233

Barry Jones, Phillip Adams and the Commission for the Future were talking of the need to confront the ‘greenhouse effect’ in the late 1980s. The Victorian Government under Joan Kirner were onto it with ‘The Greenhouse Challenge’, a strategy for reducing carbon emissions around 1990. And then the lost decades to where we are now.https://www.theguardian.com/business/commentisfree/2021/apr/25/australia-has-wasted-so-many-years-when-it-comes-to-climate-change

There’re many articles here with a similar message to that given by Katharine Murphy with her usual wit – The Happy Clapper was on a continuum of just dissembling right across to telling Pinnochio-like lies at the Biden virtual summit. We had a country once in which we could have pride, currently we’re embarrassed.https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/apr/24/global-reset-on-climate-action-leaves-scott-morrison-looking-like-yesterdays-man

Plan B, geo-engineering, is ‘methadone’ for the planet. The addiction is still there, to carbon in this case, and is merely managed. To cure the planet, drop the fantasy that we can burn carbon and get serious about renewables.https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/apr/22/climate-crisis-emergency-earth-day

If anything demonstrates the need for the Labor Environmental Action Network, a ginger group of Party members and fellow travellers, it is this proposed desecration of the Toondah Harbour. Don’t whinge, Labor, if environment votes leach to The Greens when you won’t protect Ramsar Wetlands and IUCN listed threatened species.https://independentaustralia.net/politics/politics-display/albanese-refuses-to-back-alp-decision-on-toondah-harbour-development,15005

This a major chink in our environment laws. The owners/ operators of the dump sites have taken the money and ran, we’re left with the ordure. We’re being taken for dupes, whether these ‘owners’, the Corkman Hotel ‘developers’ or the mega rich building their swimming pools on public land (or even grabbing public land) on the Mornington Peninsula.https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/dump-clean-up-to-cost-taxpayers-48-million-after-owners-abandon-their-sites-20210420-p57ksu.html

It’s not only us in our ‘cafes, dinner parties and wine bars of our inner cities’ that urge net zero emissions (and we’ll before 2050 incidentally), it’s our scientists, big business, investors and everyone apart from the fossil fools, the LNP donors and those who do their bidding.https://theconversation.com/net-zero-wont-be-achieved-in-inner-city-wine-bars-morrison-159265
