On contributions to climate catastrophe alone, the Adani (don’t be gulled by their duplicitous renaming to Bravus) mine should have been stopped. On the likely consequences for groundwater extraction and contamination, the mine should be stopped. When appeals to evidence and science fail, how else can we protect our future? Little wonder there’s resort to blocking bridges or taking cans of soup to artworks to draw attention to stupidity.

The world is striving to reach net-zero emissions as we try to ward off dangerous global warming. But will getting to net-zero actually avert climate instability, as many assume? Our new study examined that question. Alarmingly, we found reaching net-zero in the next few decades will not bring an immediate end to the global heating problem. Earth’s climate will change for many centuries to come.
