There is no end to the perfidy practised upon the Australian population over the last ten years of the mob we kicked out.https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-08/australians-could-have-saved-billions-fuel-efficiency-standards/101310750

Sorry, but better late than never. Service will be a bit erratic these next few months as we’re walking the Bibbulmun where service is sporadic.

Albo, we get what you’re doing, playing up to the resource workers while trying to keep progressives on side. But the science cares not one iota, greenhouse gases is warming is greenhouse gases. Ultimately, you have to pick up a side, you cannot straddle the past and the future simultaneously. Make this decision a source of pride too.https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/national/2022/08/05/no-shift-new-fossil-fuel-projects-pm/

It will take at more than a generation for Australia to recover from the damage Howard did to our nation, and that’s if we can recover. The hateful divisiveness he unleashed, the tacit support for Pauline Hanson, the demonising of refugees and the monumental blunder in Iraq are just some of his destructive after-effects. It is execrable that the LNP, let alone the ABC, wheels him out as though he has something worthwhile to say. The Canberra Times article, off-list but URL further below, is on the money.https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/aug/04/john-howards-climate-doubts-reveal-more-about-conservative-identity-politics-than-anything-elseWorth a read:https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/7141990/john-howards-legacy-lives-on-and-we-are-worse-for-it/

Ross Gittins is making more and more sense. He’s taking on the Kenneth Davidson role in arguing that the economy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the environment and it is a creation of society. Economics isn’t doing it’s job now, we’re placing it above all else when it is simply a means of managing the goods and services that depend on their provision by the environment. Rather than the nightly All Ordinaries Index on the news, how about the climate impact report, the number of OBPs that migrated, the particulate matter released in the Hunter?https://www.theage.com.au/business/the-economy/a-wounded-environment-leads-to-an-unlivable-economy-20220802-p5b6jn.html

‘Climate change has played a role in every mass extinction event’ and our species might well be the subject of the next. We are seeing research along these lines being reported quite often now, and still we faff on about the economic hit if we curb emissions, all the while doing precious little. And just by the by, it seems that Mirage News is now not just a purveyor of government press releases. Let’s hear it loud for media diversity.https://www.miragenews.com/potential-to-end-humanity-is-dangerously-829520/

There is so much food for thought, smart analysis and suggested approaches for a Labo(u)r Government to consider as the electorate moves on from the idea of an either/or government. The Labour Environmental Action Network has great potential as a ginger group to prepare the intellectual ground for Red, Green and Teal cooperation. Peter Christoff’s long-form article will repay your attention. https://johnmenadue.com/teetering-on-a-tightrope-labor-the-teals-and-tactics/
