Non-violent civil disobedience has a long and proud tradition in social change. This sounds very promising though while it may be a cliche to say that the devil is in the detail, with offsets particularly it really is. Better that offsets were avoided, they are an admission that the project is dodgy. If suitable habitat could be found to replace an area subject to development, the species in question would already be there. Of what use is the National Party? The DLP kept the conservatives in power all those years in frustrating the ALP and, with its demise, the Nationals have taken on that role.
